With overcast sky and a pleasantly warm temperature, I had a wonderful beach wander in the company of Black-Bellied and Semipalmated Plovers.
They are funny
little guys, always running quickly along the beach, often stopping suddenly to
feed or look around with a raised head. When in a group, it is usually the
largest Plover who is first to fly away when approached, causing all the others
to take flight and quickly follow.
With the
overcast conditions and lack of natural colour, I figured black & white photography
suited the mood perfectly. Due to the speed that the little guys move, the in-flight
photos shown below are not perfectly in focus ~ hopefully I will have lots of years
ahead of me here in the South Shore, to achieve the almost perfect in-flight bird
photo.
