Looking out on the deck this morning, I noticed
one of our little ones had vacated the nest. He (or she), sat for longest time
taking the panoramic view. Having spent the last couple of weeks under the deck,
I wondered what was going on in his (or her) head, seeing for the first time,
the trees, the house, the grass, the sky, the sun, feeling the wind and observing all
the other local wildlife and morning visitors.
Soon after taking it all in, the little one flew off
towards the forest, tried to land on a tree branch, but failed and fell off, then crashed
through the lower branches and landed hard on the grass. He (or she) quickly
recovered and went for a wander instead …
Now it is down to two in the nest ……………
Who will leave next ...? |
