White Point

8th June 2017
White Point Beach is centrally located in South Shore, within the UNESCO Southwest Nova Biosphere Reserve. The 1km sandy beach with white soft sand and pounding surf is great for kite surfing, see the photos.
While there we got to see a pair of Piping Plovers and their four young chicks. The conservation status of this bird is "Near-Threatened", so having this breeding pair who come by White Point Beach every year is a huge deal. The chicks we saw only hatched the day before and incredibly they were running very happily around the beach and rocks, much to the watchful eye and concern of their parents.
