Just get out and embrace it ….

Even after 31 years in Canada which included 28 in Ontario, this Scotsman is still having his annual issues with snow and crazy low temperatures during the month of March. Currently where I came from in the West of Scotland, the daffodils and spring flowers are out providing colour everywhere, the grass is as green as it always is and the temperatures I am sure are definitely above freezing. I am not at all sure how long it will take for me to feel that snow and ice in March is perfectly normal, perhaps never.

On the upside, I have been assured by a few of the locals that this year has been much colder than normal, which is certainly the case when compared to my first two winters in the South Shore.
For me, it is best to just get out and embrace the beauty that has come with this month’s unique winter conditions in this wonderful location.

Below are a few pictures from this weekend’s visits to Hirtle Beach, Rissers Beach and the LaHave Islands.

On the way back today from the Islands, we stopped at the LaHave Bakery (see ~ https://southshoretidewatch.blogspot.com/2017/01/the-bakery.html) for a very satisfying coffee and amazing homemade cookies. It was nice to sit there and overhear three lobster fishermen talk about their fishing techniques and experiences, another little piece of the perfect culture that is the South Shore.
