Located on the edge of the historic Burren in northwest County Clare is the picturesque village of Doolin and the dramatic vertical majestic Cliffs of Moher. In addition to its perfect location and scenery, Doolin (or in Irish Gaelic ~ Dúlainn) with a population of about 300, is also is the home of traditional Irish music, with plenty of that and craic to be had every night in all its four pubs.
Fanore, a little further north from Doolin ...
Another batch of lovely photos. I liked the cute little pink house that looks like it has eyes. The cliffs there are very steep and forbidding. But they make a dramatic landscape.

ReplyDeleteRick W - Lots of quaint colourful houses and assertive surf!
ReplyDeleteAs always, I love your heavily illustrated travelogues! Your visit to Doolin in County Clare reminded me of my first tour of Ireland in 1993 with my son, who was just 12 at the time. Doolin is quite a lovely town. We had a meal, and I had at least one Guinness, at Gus O'Connor's Pub. I seem to recall that we had a chance to hear some traditional Irish music in that pub. I also recall the ferry office, where we booked a ferry to the Aran Islands -- an unforgettable experience -- and Doonagore Castle (photo 19 of 67 photos you took). That 16th-c round tower house, which is still privately owned, was charming. I believe it was built on the site of a 14th-c ringfort. So much history dots the Irish landscape. It's a rich palimpsest.
ReplyDeleteQuaint location. Sure would have loved to eat and drink at those pubs!! Hope you walked barefoot on the beach! Loved the animal photos and the village
