Home is made for coming from, for dreams of going to …

Out and about early this morning to check on my favourite place, the sea. I always feel when driving to the beach or the LaHave Islands for a wander or a sit by the ocean, that I am heading home. There is never a time that I am disappointed by a visit, the weather can never be bad, the wind regardless of how strong it blows is always fine and the sea …  well that is constantly perfect.

My first stop was at my quiet little corner on the islands. This morning it was calm, warm and completely silent. I sat there for a while thinking about life’s cycle, the sea and what I believe is a possible connection between the two ~ We are all visitors to this time, this place, we are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to experience and then we return home.

After the island visit, it was time to sit on My Rock and observe the tide coming in ….

Fata Morgana

When I was out this morning for an early beach wander, I saw a very impressive Fata Morgana     “A what ...”, I hear you say …!!!

With thanks to the inter-web, here is the definition of a Fata Morgana ~

A Fata Morgana is a mirage type, specifically a superior mirage, which happens when the object or image (mirage) is seen located above the real object.

The Fata Morgana mirage can be seen on land and sea, although it’s mostly associated with the open ocean. It takes its name from the sorceress Morgan le Fay, an Arthurian legend who apparently used these illusions to lure sailors into traps.

One of the most remarkable things about the Fata Morgana is that it can cause a lot of unusual sightings for everyone, such as a mountain located in the middle of the ocean.

It occurs when light rays pass through air layers with different temperatures and bend, causing a thermal inversion inside an atmospheric duct, which acts as a refracting lens. It can produce erect and inverted images, giving off the ‘Fata Morgana’ effect.

I have seen them before, but never as good as it was this morning.
