For the first time ....

………… we have seen deer in the backyard.

We have always known they were in the forest, but today is the first time they have ventured out. Rather exciting and nice ~ at least until they start to munch on the veggies later in the summer …!!!!

Cattle by the water ...

A drive down the coast today and a stop at very windy Beach Meadows, which looked very big and wide at low tide. Close by were a few cattle out grazing by the water.

Stuff on trees, stuff on the beach ...

In bright sunshine and approaching high tide, I was out and about this afternoon at Rissers and the Islands admiring some of nature's creations …

Sea foam, something I didn’t know courtesy of Wikipedia ~
Sea foam is a type of foam created by the agitation of seawater, particularly when it contains higher concentrations of dissolved organic matter derived from sources such as the offshore breakdown of algal blooms. These compounds can act as surfactants or foaming agents. As the seawater is churned by breaking waves in the surf zone adjacent to the shore, the surfactants under these turbulent conditions trap air, forming persistent bubbles that stick to each other through surface tension.

Foggy morning at the river

An early wander by a tranquil and at times a foggy LaHave River.
I was amazed at how rapidly conditions changed, it would quickly alternate between thick fog to completely clear within a minute or so.
While there an eagle (see the last two photos) came gliding overhead and landed on the icy river.
