I didn't get that memo ...

Recently we have had some very low daytime and overnight temperatures, perhaps the lowest sustained period of such that I have experienced in my 38 years in Canada. Armed as always with my camera, I went out to see what the low temperatures have done to some of my regular haunts.

My first stop was Sunset Park, where the adjacent LaHave River is completely frozen over. According to many locals I have spoken to, it was possible in days gone by to drive on the river from Bridgewater all the way down to the LaHave Ferry Wharf at the Bakery.

My next stop was to the LaHave Islands, where I got an enormous surprise ~ a new bridge under construction going over to the first part of Bush Island, I had no idea this was planned ~ I didn't get that memo ...!!! Over the last couple of years, I had made some observations that the old bridge was beginning to look well past its best ~ perhaps the new bridge is timely project.

After a wee wander around the islands, I went down to the Government Wharf on Bell Island., where the locals are busy with lobster season.

Bright sunny days like this, when the air is chilly, and the sun traps keep you warm are certainly up there with the best …
