Dental Surgery .....

Back in early May, I had a tooth (second molar upper left) with a failed Root Canal extracted. Due to the location of the resulting gap, there is a very good chance that the first molar will fall or collapse into that gap. So, the solution to the issue is an implant ~ estimated total cost $4500. The actual implant surgery could not take place for at least four months, this to allow the bone growth into the socket left by the vacant tooth.

During mid-August I had my consultation and required X-Ray with the dental surgeon in Halifax ~ that was $150 along with a departing and “see you again on September 5th.”

So, today it was off for the $1800 implant appointment, note this does not include the eventual abutment or crown, those dollars come along three or four months after the implant has secured itself into the surrounding bone.

With the freezing done, in he went and (aggressively) cut away the gum and exposed the bone, at which point he said “That’s not good …”.

With what seemed like a blunt shovel and 4lb hammer, he energetically continued to work on the “That’s not good …” situation, while I lay there wondering if a blunt shovel propelled by a 4lb hammer would do permanent damage if accelerated directly through my brain.

After the gruesome experience with the shovel and hammer, it was declared that no implant would be done today and in fact probably not until early 2024. If you have the slightest inclination as to why, then I am afraid you will have to wait for my book …!!!!

Today's cost $282 with the majority of the total estimate of $4500 still to come ...

After that severe disappointment, we headed for home, but made stops at Lower Prospect, Peggys Cove and the Swissair flight 111 memorial.

The Lower Prospect photos are in colour, while the Peggys Cove photos are in sepia. I thought that that would give a warmer tone and inspire a sense of the old and perhaps the historical aspect of Peggys Cove ~ did that work out …? ~ I don’t think so …

The photos of the Swissair flight 111 memorial are taken just three days after the 25th anniversary of the disaster, which claimed the lives of 229 just off the coast at Peggy Cove. This is one of two memorials, the other is locate across St Margarets Bay at Bayswater.
