The Empire got dumped upon (again) …

As forecast, we received our overnight snowfall, I think at about two feet, which was slightly more than predicted. It is always nice to look out from the house to see the undisturbed snow and the beauty that it brings with a bright blue sky.

Not being able to resist the conditions, I went out to take some pics around the empire and filled my wellies with snow in the process.

After this the clear up began ....

In addition the clearing the driveway, it is necessary is to create a network of walkways around the empire, to allow access to the woodshed, the composter, the backdoor and most importantly the feeding areas for local squirrel and birds.

Fortunately, today the snow was very light and with Buddy Brett and his handy dandy tractor, everything was done quickly and with much fun ….

Frozen Lake, Beach and Icicles …

This morning’s excursion started off at Petite Rivière with its frozen lake, before going onto Crescent Beach for an absolutely wonderful wander.

With the tide retreating in a slow and slumbering way, the sun bright in a cloudless sky, the beach outing was as close to perfect as it could ever be. The conditions were so perfect at just below zero, there was even a girl in swimming ~ you’ve got to love the South Shore …

No wanders today …

It is an extremely rare event that I do not get out for my daily walk, but the severe weather today would offer a challenge I am not interested in taking on.

The snow started in the wee hours of the morning (Saturday), and according to the weather network, it will stop on Monday at 1.00pm ~ Ouch …
