OK, let’s go ….

On this beautiful bright morning with an extremely low tide, I was out for a lovely beach wander. I noticed at the beginning of the walk, and just after taking the first photo of the day on the completely deserted Crescent Beach, I said to myself ~ “OK, let’s go…”

While on my way to the water’s edge, where I always prefer to walk, I thought about what I said, and quickly came to the realization and conclusion, I say that every time I start a beach wander ~ it appears to be customary.

Below are this morning’s customary pics …

Low Sand .....

With a nice bright afternoon ahead of me, I had a desire for a sail on the sea and a beach wander. Unfortunately the sailing part was not going to be some old wooden hulled ship, at full sail ready to take me wonderful seagoing adventures around the world, it was instead a brief crossing on the LaHave Ferry.

To do this, I drove into Bridgewater crossed the Iron Bridge, drove down the other side ~ Upper Lahave, Middle Lahave, East Lahave and just before Lower Lahave, I got on the ferry for the 6 minute crossing, it was great. I could easily be described as being like a kid locked in overnight in a wine gum factory when I am on the ferry ...

My first stop on this side (of the river) was at Crescent Beach. With the tide high and still coming in, it was either get wet feet or turn back, so I did the latter, having walked only half the beach. I then went off to continue my wander at Rissers, which was really nice and deserted

Low Sand …

This winter we have had a couple of really windy storms with warnings of high tidal surges, I think it was only during the past couple of weeks that we had our last one. After they have passed, I have noticed very low sand levels on all the local beaches. Today at Rissers where there was usually deep sand, there was now rocks I have never seen before. The sand levels must easily be down about five to six feet, the whole landscape (or should it be sandscape or beachscape) has been completely altered.

A photo from almost the same spot taken on December 31st, 2018 ...

No more stepping onto the beach from here ...

Snowy wander down to the river …

This morning we woke up to what I think is only our second snow fall of the winter and it really did not amount to much.

Regardless of how much snow actually does fall, it always provides a nice backdrop for a pleasant wander with the camera. With that in mind, I took a short walk down to the river ….

Still and Silent ….

Today’s wander was through the treed trail at Miller Point Peace Park, which is located on the other side of the LaHave River from Pleasantville.

The park is great place in any season for a walk on its 5km of trails with perfect views of the LaHave River. I have read it has a long history of being an old local settlement, indicated by the remains of stone foundations throughout the site ~ the next time I go there I will look for those …

Below are views of the still and silent LaHave River taken from the park …
