Morning wander up a stream

On the heals of my recent discovery of a nice stream in the forest, I went out this morning in low sun and long shadows for a wander up the lovely natural body of water. After following it for a good distance it soon disappeared. The source is from underground, with water percolating from beneath the surface without a defined channel or course, before being filtered through the thick carpet of moss.

An absolutely necessary requirement for such pastimes during this lockdown, is a good pair of Wellies. While equipped with such necessities, experience has taught me, that one should be careful to acknowledge the depth of water, in comparison to the height of the rubber … !!!

Another wander into the forest …

Armed with my new light-weight Carbon Fibre Tripod and a 6-Stop Reduction (ND64) Filter, I headed back into the forest. I noticed a couple of days ago, some lovely little streams, which I thought would be ideal for experimenting with long exposures. All photos are taken at 100ASA.

With no beach wanders during ....

…………. this lockdown period, I am walking more in the forest at the back of the house. In the past, it has been known for me to get lost in there, so I now try to pay more careful attention to my movements and direction.

Yesterday in bright sunshine what stood out the most, was the multitude of different types of moss. At times the forest floor resembled a soft multi-shade green carpet, with the occasional tree stump and rock breaking the landscape to show off its velvet coverings, it was all rather nice …

Stay the BLAZES home .....!!!!

Last week during a recent COVID-19 update, Nova Scotia’s premier Stephen McNeil, displayed a warranted level of annoyance and obvious frustration, that COVID-19 Physical Distancing rules were not being strictly obeyed. Barely containing his anger, he said ~ "We don't need online graphs to tell us what we need to do. We need to stay the BLAZES home.”
The premier’s unique way of telling the public to stay at home has quickly gone viral, spawning songs, memes, T-shirts and mugs in tribute, a few examples are shown below …

I was out this morning to a couple of stores for the weekly stock-up, I have to say that I was very impressed at the level of discipline, physical distancing, general observance and respect for the current rules.

Remember if you don’t have to go out, then ~ Stay the BLAZES home …
