After three years …..

….it has finally been removed.

When Hurricane Dorian came by on September 7th 2019, it was described as ~ “The most destructive storm to hit the region on record brought widespread heavy rain, pounding surf, damaging storm surge and severe winds.” ~ and caused wharfs to be destroyed, roofs were ripped from buildings, hundreds of trees broke or fell and even cranes were toppled. In our backyard the only casualty was one which fell over.

Much to the joy of the local squirrels and chipmunks who run up and down the toppled tree, it has been stuck at an angle of 30° for three years now.

On a visit from Ontario, I asked Buddy Rejean to bring with him his chainsaw (I no longer do chainsaws …!!!). It is common knowledge that he likes to cut down trees. So, with additional help from Buddy Brett and his tractor from across the road, the tree has now safely been removed.

Sunday visitors to the empire …

Another day in Pleasantville, which started in the morning with two live football (or for the uneducated ~ that would be soccer) games from Scotland, followed by an afternoon of moving one cord of firewood across the lot, for winter storage under some trees. In between times I got to practise with the new camera courtesy of some visitors …

Sitting on our rocks …

I was out early this morning for a beach wander and sit on My Rock.

On m my way there, I stopped to take a couple of photos of the LaHave River, then onto the islands to try out the new camera at some familiar locations, but in what I hoped would be different light conditions.

During my rock sitting, I had the pleasant company of Seagull Buddy. He sat not too far from me for as long as I was there, like me I am sure he was enjoying the solitary view and calmness of the sea around us.

You can read more about my history of claiming rocks for myself  at ~

It’s a squirrel’s life …

Recently we have a regular visitor to the door ~ Mama Squirrel” who has just had a batch of babies or kits.

This afternoon, she came to the door to see if there were any spare nuts available, as usual there were plenty ….
